ABOUT

Born on Bundjalung land in Northern New South Wales in Australia, Fiona Fraser was awarded her Bachelor and Honours degrees in Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University and in 2009 graduated from the Master of Art, Design + Environment at the Tasmanian School of Art, University of Tasmania.

 

Fiona’s practice explores the relationship between humans and their built and natural environments, and incorporates photography, printmaking, installation, artist book, small sculptures and performance.

 

Field trips and artist residencies have been influential on her work, in particular two months at Maria Island National Park, Tasmania and two months at the Cite International des Arts, Paris. One of four founding members, Fiona co-curated and exhibited in six annual Osmosis 

exhibitions by female uni graduate artists, in dialogue with the Tasmanian environment. Her work has been exhibited and collected in Tasmania, Queensland, New South Wales and New Caledonia.

 

Since moving back to Bundjalung land in 2016 Fiona has been Curator at Lismore Regional Gallery and Art Assistant at Trinity Catholic College Lismore. In conjuction with her art practice, Fiona has previously worked in Arts Administration at the Queensland College of Art, Tasmanian School of Art, Hobart City Council, Ten Days on the Island and Salamanca Arts Centre.
